Dr. Derrick Kim

Derrick Kim, N.D., a native of South Korea, is a graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. He also completed special training in Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Medicine at the Center for Natural Medicine. He completed several different programs of Eastern traditional and western manual therapies including acupressure, Kyung-Nack massage, trigger point therapy, Korean Hand Therapy, spinal manipulation and physical therapy, soft & deep tissue work, prolotherapy, low level laser therapy,  Somatic Re-Education work and meridian point injection for pain control. He,also, uses several innovative diagnostic methods to pinpoint the underlying causes and contributing factors of your illness or presenting symptoms.

After learning and practicing  what the naturopathic medical school in Portland, Oregon had to offer, Dr. Kim found himself very disappointed and struggling with his patient’s healing progress. He noticed patients tend to be on too many herbs and supplements and too long, almost for their lifetime, without a plan or vision of life without them.  Thus, he started his own journey to find healing principles and processes. With years of sincere heart and diligent effort, Dr. Kim was able to understand them and to help patients to be healed all the way.

Two Principles of Health

  1. Optimal Circulation of Blood
First thing we think of when it comes to improving circulation is “Exercise”, such as cardio, weight lifting and gym equipment.  They are great tools to help promote circulation. Relaxation is important to circulation as well. Techniques like meditation, massage and breathing exercises all help to improve circulation. These all work well under one condition, if there are no blockages or calcified layers! If there are such layers, then you are fighting against your own body’s compensatory process. My goal is to help people, doctors and therapists to complete their own journey of healing.  I developed a way of “Breaking off the hard, calcified layers first” where the nerves and blood & lymph vessels are entrapped. This process is called the “Excavating Process” with Dr. Kim’s Pain Therapy, called manual therapy. It is very painful but highly effective. The most pain goes away almost immediately as the therapy ceases. But tenderness and soreness can be lasted for a few days. My school of thought is “kNOw PAIN, kNOw GAIN”.
  2. Optimal Quality of Blood
Once the soft tissue build-ups and hard tight muscles are released, there will be more waste products and toxins dumped into the spaces of interstitial and lymphatic fluids. These blood vessels need to carry the waste products and toxins. Then they are filtered through the Liver where can undergo the detoxification process. Water-soluble toxins will be excreted through the kidneys, whereas the fat-soluble toxins will go through the gallbladder via bile to be stored until mealtime. When the fats in the meal stimulate the gallbladder to squeeze the bile into the small intestines, the toxins in the bile flow into the small intestines to mix with the food to process the fat-soluble nutrients in the food. At the same time, toxins in the bile will continue to move through the gut with the goal being to exit out of the body through the feces. For most people, however, they have leaky gut issues. That means that their gut is leaking out the germs, waste products, undigested food particles and toxins from the small intestines back into the spaces filled with interstitial and lymphatic fluids and then return to blood circulation. They then go back to the Liver again and repeat the same vicious cycle again and again, or deposit them into nerve cells and fat cells produced by the Liver. You must have a  some external help for the Liver and the intestines to break that vicious cycle. There are many different types of detoxifying tools: wet/dry sauna, sweat-producing exercise, mud bath, hydrotherapy, foot bath, colon hydrotherapy, enema, etc….

Dr. Kim has developed ” Ten Day Total Cleansing Program”, consisted of special soup diet, individualized supplemental and herbal plan based on tests, colon hydrotherapy and Dr. Kim’s bodywork. The most effective methods of detoxification should accomplish the following goals simultaneously. One is to facilitate the passage of intestinal waste content. As a result, it will help to minimize the time and amount of re-absorption of the toxins via the vicious cycle to the Liver. This helps the Liver to do more thorough systemic detoxification without dealing with the re-absorbed toxins. Two is to trigger the “reverse” dumping action of the lymphatic fluid from the spaces directly into the intestines. This will reduce the toxic load on the Liver. It helps the Liver to more effectively detoxify other parts of the body, especially from the fat cells. Three is to restore the body’s functions of Liver, Kidneys, Lungs, and Intestines with supplements and herbs internally. Last one is to open up physical blockages and trigger points and any toxic deposits or build ups by proper bodywork.

“Better quality of blood and better circulation of blood” helps to enhance your own innate healing power. That is the best gift you can give to yourself. Enjoy your gift for the rest of your life. For more information on this total cleansing program, visit Living Water Healthy Cleansing Center
